The YouthCO website was an exciting and interesting website for Kinky Logic to develop. Kinky Logic was given complete creative freedom to create a truly fun website. It was necessary to target the 15-30 year old age demographic YouthCO reaches to educate them of serious life issues like HIV, Hep C and AIDS awareness. It was important to do so in a way that would be received well and easily understood. Kinky Logic illustrated, animated, and developed specific super hero characters and names, creating their unique stories and assigning them distinct 'super power' attributes. The super hero's represent youth and the 'villain' represents the diseases that YouthCO is helping prevent.
There are many illustrations and Flash MX animations here that help demonstrate the super hero vs the villain theme. Each super hero has it's strengths and weaknesses which can be afflicted by the villain, subtly delivering the underlying message that all youth are susceptible to these diseases if not carefully prevented. Information is present on how youth can get help if they come in contact with HIV, AIDS or Hep C or if they require more educational information on topics such as sex, sexually transmitted diseases and prevention. A forum for youth has been created to let anyone anonymously take part in and discuss topics in detail. 'Ask Jake' is also an area where youth can ask specific questions and get answers without their identity being exposed (overseen by a forum moderator).
Be sure to take the 'Sexual Health Quiz' and watch the 'Condom Cartoon' under the 'Fun' section. You'd be surprised at what you can learn ;)
