Mink Chocolates Inc. produces handmade luxury chocolates with high cocoa content containing dark, milk chocolate, solid and ganache filled chocolate bars. Mink Chocolates is one of those projects and opportunities that are rare - who could resist designing with such a sumptuous subject matter? After developing all of the packaging and branding materials, we are confirmed Mink addicts.

Kinky Logic Inc. developed the entire brand for Mink Chocolates, beginning with the logo and identity which was translated to a full line of chocolate bar packaging (33 chocolate bar boxes), bon bon artist series box, gift boxes with gift wraps, chocolate molds, instore graphics, interior and exterior signage, overall store colour palette, point of sale, print collateral, posters and website.

The owner and creative catalyst, Marc Lieberman, has an amazing sense of humour and impeccable taste which comes across in all things Mink such as the names and flavours of the bars. With names like: Tawny and Ruby are Friends (port in dark chocolate ganache), Open In Case of Emergency (fresh mint & Kentucky bourbon in chocolate ganache), Certifiably Nutty (roasted almonds), Navel Gazing (candied zest of orange), Ginger or Marianne? (candied ginger) who could resist?

Mink Chocolates' desire was to break away from the conventions of traditional chocolate branding and turned to Kinky Logic to help. Kinky Logic approached the project with a fresh eye and design sense. The brand and packaging needed to be friendly and approachable - but intriguing, and something that people wanted to take away with them (and possibly collect). Kinky Logic was fortunate to work with such an innovative owner who let us develop the entire brand at our discretion. Marc has told us a few times that when he came up with the idea to start Mink, he really didn't know what to expect, and is still amazed at how it has all come together. This project really illustrates a fusion between creative minds alike.

The website is home to a full database of the chocolate bars and artist series bon bons, showcasing the entire product range online. The chocolate bars are divided into "Dark", "Milk", "White", "Solid", "Ganache" and "Organic" categories for easy access. Each gallery consists of thumbnails of each bar and when selected reveal a large image of the actual packaging graphics complete with nutritional and ingredient information.

The website is fully developed in Flash MX to allow for a full creative and inspiring experience. The website loads with the signature Mink swirl emulating the waft of fine chocolate and coffee beans which hit you when you enter the store. Kinky Logic plans to add E-commerce to the website in the future so those less fortunate who don't live near to Mink can have them delivered. The only challenge is for Mink being able to keep enough products in stock as they are continually in demand. Customers are already on a waiting list for their favourite bars. For a new business, that is not a bad problem to have.
